The Fronto / Dark Air Cured (J1) is often a very dark, very thick air cured tobacco leaf, but is not a wrapper grade tobacco. The J1 Grade name signifies that it was grown southwest of Louisville, KY, USA. This leaf is often one of the largest, and one of the darkest leaves we carry, but as with any natural leaf, this can vary slightly. This leaf has a very dark chocolate brown color on top, with a lighter color on the underneath. Due to its large size, it is to be expected that there will be slightly more damages than other Dark Air Cured.
The Fronto / Dark Air Cured (ALO) is a dark, thick air cured tobacco leaf. The ALO Grade name signifies that it was grown in-between Tennessee and Kentucky, USA. This leaf is large, and carries a medium-dark chocolate brown color, only to continue to darken with age.
Our Dark Fire Cured Tobacco Leaf is one of the darkest tobacco leaves offered at Leaf Only. The use of large fires to cure the tobacco leaves it with a pungent smoke-like smell and flavor. Although this leaf is traditionally used to make chewing tobacco, snuff, snus, and in pipe blends; some of our customers have enjoyed this leaf in a hookah blend, or as a roll-your-own fronto leaf, comparable to our Dark Air Cured Tobacco Leaf, despite it's strong smell and flavor.
Fronto tobacco leaf, sometimes known as grabba leaf, or fanta leaf, is a tobacco wrapper leaf sold by the individual leaf or by the pound. The leaf should be in good condition, and enjoyed by its users.
Our Light Fire Cured (R) Tobacco Leaf can be described as a wonderful middle ground between the Dark Air Cured and Dark Fire Cured.
The Fronto / Dark Air Cured (J2) is often a very dark, very thick air cured tobacco leaf, but is not a wrapper grade tobacco. Our Dark Air Cured (J2) is a 2LS grade, which means it is a binder grade leaf. For wraps and grabba, there is still plenty of leaf to use; but, overall most leaves will have at least a couple of rips and holes or discoloration making it a binder grade. This leaf is often one of the largest, and one of the darkest leaves we carry, but as with any natural leaf, this can vary slightly.

Mainly used to make cigarette tobacco leaf blends a bit stronger and smoother, Maryland 609 is also used for cigar filler, pipe blends, and chewing tobacco leaf. Maryland 609 is a “light air cured” type of tobacco similar to Burley but lighter in body and more neutral in flavor.

Nicotiana Rustica, sometimes known as Wild Tobacco, thuoc lao, mapacho and other regional names, is an incredibly strong variety of whole leaf tobacco with up to 9x more nicotine then other varieties of whole leaf tobacco.
Our Dark Fire Cured Tobacco Leaf Low Grade is one of the darkest tobacco leaves offered at Leaf Only. It has a very pungent, smoke-like smell and flavor due to the "Fire Curing Process", which uses large, gentle fires to cure the tobacco. Although this leaf is traditionally used to make chewing tobacco, snuff, snus, and in pipe blends, some of our customers have enjoyed this leaf in a hookah blend, or as a roll-your-own fronto leaf, comparable to our Dark Air Cured Tobacco Leaf, despite it's strong smell and flavor. Low grade tobacco by definition is tobacco of inferior quality that is not fit to be sold as a regular grade. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including tobacco that has been dropped on the floor, broken up into small pieces, discolored, dirty, stems, etc. Most customers who purchase scrap tobacco use it for ceremonial purposes, to practice rolling cigars, use as a natural insecticide and/or purchased by industrial companies. There are no refunds or exchanges on low grade tobaccos.

Extremely Potent half hardy annual that grows to about 3 ft. and is cultivated worldwide for smoking and nicotine production, but also works great for pesticides. This plant has many green to yellow flowers that remain open during the day and be can raised as far north as Maine. It is a fast grower and is so potent that it has been used as an arrow poison in Mexico!
An upright variety with more leaves than most varieties. Is taller than most varieties on the market and cures a golden color. Great for cigarettes, and one of the largest producers.
This variety originated in Kentucky. It has relatively large leaves of medium body that cures out a deep, rich brown color. Can be fire cured or air cured depending on application.
Medium, smooth leaf that cures to a dark brown. Can be used as a chew, binder, filler or wrapper or even in cigarette/pipe blends. It grows 5' to 6' tall with blooming occurring at 55-65 days. It produces 16-18 harvestable leaves averaging 14"-16" wide and 24" long which ripen 2-3 weeks after booming begins. Can be fire cured or air cured depending on application.
A fast growing, high yielding tobacco with large leaves that cure to a deep red color, excellent cigarette and pipe blend, but suitable for other applications as well.
A fine commercial strain that is used for its hardiness and smooth flavor. A must for cigarette making. This plant grows fast and is a high yield producer. It is recommended to leave 14 leaves on the plant while pruning.
This is a deep dark tobacco that gives good weight and supports itself very well. This is a tobacco prized by specialty growers because it provides a great wrapper tobacco or a premium snuff tobacco when ripe. A good tobacco for beginners learning to roll their own cigars or for first time snuff makers.
This Turkish tobacco is among the best money can buy. Originating in the Samsun region of Turkey, along the Black Sea, this tobacco is renowned for its unique rich flavor. This plant has smaller leaves than other strains, but a very distinctive aroma. An excellent Turkish blend or unique by itself.
The Connecticut Valley is a major source of some of the world's finest wrapper leaves. This golden colored wrapper tobacco is highly regarded and praised by many cigar makers and connoisseurs. Connecticut Shade originated from a strain of Cuban seed, is shade-grown under huge tents of cheesecloth or greenhouse shade netting to protect the delicate leaf.
This is a wonderful tobacco leaf for cigars, making a good filler and binder that imparts a deep, rich flavor to cigars. Leaves are darker, long and narrow, and offer a good high yield harvest.
Besides shade leaf, Connecticut offers wonderful dark cigar leaves as well. CT broadleaf makes for wonderful wrapper, binder, and filler, and produces a soft chocolatey brown leaf after curing.
A very mild tobacco leaf for cigarettes and pipes. It averages 6' in height with 18-20 leaves per plant. It reaches maturity when blooms appear at 55 days. The light green leaves average 12" wide by 24" long and become a light yellow/green when ripe. Leaves began to ripen as the plant reaches bloom. Air cures easily to a light golden brown with yields averaging 3 oz of dried leaf per plant.
Rare and famous Louisiana tobacco known for its dark, black color and unique flavor when cured. Perique is a spice tobacco, usually used in Virginia blends. It has a dark, oily appearance, when cured and a taste of pepper and figs. Its flavor is a little strong, so it is usually found mostly in blends. It can be smoked straight, but isn't intended to be. Being acidic, it tends to alleviate alkaline tongue bite, which is so often a problem with Virginia tobacco, so it is recommend to blend this with your cigarette blends.
This heirloom is an all around good tobacco. Makes a somewhat sweet chew, and is also good for making cigarette and pipe tobacco blends. Large plants with heavy crops, should be staked or tied off to something for support, or it will blow over in heavy storms.

The Aged Dark Air Cured is a dark, thick air cured tobacco leaf. This leaf has a medium to dark chocolate brown color on top with a somewhat lighter color on the underside. This leaf is very similar to the Dark Air Cured (J1), but an older crop year. Due to this time given to age, you might find that this leaf has a slightly more mellow taste.
The Fronto / Dark Air Cured (CLO) is an air cured tobacco leaf grown in Canada. This leaf is very large, and carries a milk chocolate brown color, that will only darken with age. Because it was grown farther north, the color of this leaf will be lighter in color, and thinner in texture overall.
Our Light Fire Cured Tobacco Leaf can be described as a wonderful middle ground between the Dark Air Cured and Dark Fire Cured.
