Our Dark Fire Cured Tobacco Leaf is one of the darkest tobacco leaves offered at Leaf Only. The use of large fires to cure the tobacco leaves it with a pungent smoke-like smell and flavor. The Fronto / Dark Air Cured (CLO) is an air cured tobacco leaf grown in Canada. This leaf is very large, and carries a milk chocolate brown color, that will only darken with age. Because it was grown farther north, the color of this leaf will be lighter in color, and thinner in texture overall.

Low grade tobacco by definition is tobacco of inferior quality that is not fit to be sold as a regular grade. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including tobacco that has been dropped on the floor, broken up into small pieces, discolored, dirty, tobacco dust, stems, etc. Most customers who purchase scrap tobacco use it for ceremonial purposes, to practice rolling cigars, use as a natural insecticide and/or purchased by industrial companies. There are no refunds or exchanges on low grade tobaccos.

Rare and famous Louisiana tobacco known for its dark, black color and unique flavor when cured. Perique is a spice tobacco, usually used in Virginia blends. It has a dark, oily appearance, when cured and a taste of pepper and figs. Its flavor is a little strong, so it is usually found mostly in blends. It can be smoked straight, but isn't intended to be. Being acidic, it tends to alleviate alkaline tongue bite, which is so often a problem with Virginia tobacco, so it is recommend to blend this with your cigarette blends.

Cuban Criollo 98 is one of the most valued strains for Cuban cigars. It originated from a crossing between the varieties ' Havana 92' and `Habana P.R'. Cultivated in the sun it produces from 14 to 16 useful leaves per plant and makes an excellent binder. It reaches an average height of 6 feet. Leaves average 24 inches in length and 12 inches wide.

Habano 2000 is derived from a crossing between the variety Corojo and a non commercial variety of Cuban dark tobacco, the Habano 2.1.1. Grown in direct sun it reaches an average height of 6 feet with 14-16 leaves per plant. In very rich soils it can develop up to 18 leaves per plant. Sun grown plants are often used as a binder or filler. Grown under a shade cloths, Habano 2000 makes an excellent wrapper.

Basma tobacco originated in Greece. It is known for its sweet and aromatic taste. Leaves have a sugar content of 10-12%. It is a tall columnar plant reaching 6" in height. Leaves are sharply pointed averaging 9" to 10" in width and up to 20" in length. Plants produce an average of 20 leaves per plant with a nicotine content of 1%. Matures in 60 days

A Flue-cured Tobacco, Bright Tobacco. A leading commercial variety in Ontario. But it grows very well across the USA too. These plants are known to get as big as 12ft. This plant was developed by crossing Canadian and American varieties to improve quality and disease resistance and to lower nicotine. Its slightly heavier, thicker leaves cure nicely with a high percentage of mahogany and orange leaves. The flavor is said to be somewhat bolder than other varieties, but not too strong, with a rich tobacco flavor and a very heavy yield.

The Aged Dark Air Cured is a dark, thick air cured tobacco leaf. This leaf has a medium to dark chocolate brown color on top with a somewhat lighter color on the underside. This leaf is very similar to the Dark Air Cured (J1), but an older crop year. Due to this time given to age, you might find that this leaf has a slightly more mellow taste.
